It's been about nine months since my last post, and a lot has happened since then. It's weird to think that I didn't post once while in school this year..I'd like to attribute that to being busy all the time..haha. Which I have been! This year has been busy..and it has really gone by fast. So many things have happened..I have met a ton of awesome new friends, strengthened old friendships, and some friendships have died out unfortunately.
So I guess I wanna start by talking about some of the things I have been obsessing over lately haha. I doubt anyone will really care for any of this, this is mostly just for me.
Obsession #1:
A Song of Ice and Fire
by George R.R. Martin.
This is basically one of the most amazing book series I have ever read. I have been reading these books since..well basically since I last posted, and I am currently finished A Storm of Swords. I know, I know..I'm a slow reader..but as has been mentioned before, I have been very busy and these books are VERY dense. These books are basically everything I have ever wanted in a work of fiction: medieval warfare and politics; medieval tournaments; Kings vying for a throne, each with his own claim; AMAZING characters; and basically one of the most complex and compelling plots I have ever experienced. Now..be warned..READER DISCRETION ADVISED..these books are not for kids. They are very graphic in places. So much so that it would definitely offend some readers, but I choose to skip over the graphic stuff. I read it for the story and characters.
Obsession #2:
Now this is kinda two in one here..haha. I discovered Nat Geo Magazine this October, and I have been hooked since. My awesome aunt subscribed me to it, and I LOVE getting it every month. The photography is just amazing..I can't stand it! Haha. Also I have been a little obsessed with the Titanic. I have always been a little obsessed with the Titanic, but here recently I kinda had a Titanic obsession phase. Mostly because of the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. I just love the story of the ship, and reading about the people that did their best with what time they had as the ship sank. It's definitely a sad story, but I think it's important history that we don't need to overlook. It teaches us a valuable lesson: pride goes before the fall.
Obsession #3:
This next one is a little weird..I have been pretty obsessed lately with getting a dog. Specifically a black lab. And today I found out that I will be able to have one next semester because my friends and I are going to be living in a house off campus!! My dad is already looking at some potential puppies and I hope to be getting one as soon as I go home! I can't wait. I prayed really hard for me to be able to have a dog, and even though it was a petty and trivial prayer request, God deemed it fit to grant that request. He is so good. =] But yeah. I plan on getting a black male and calling him Cerberus. Basically the coolest name ever for a dog. So excited.
Well I think that is pretty much it for things I have been obsessing over...mostly I just wanted to go ahead and break the ice with writing again on here. I have some thoughts brewing in my head that I really wanna get down on here. One of them being the fact that I leave for Europe in a week with Chorus! I really can't wait for that! Well kids, thanks for reading if you did..haha sorry this was really weird, and be looking for my next post.
